Get prepared to learn MMA and understand the fundamentals through a structured and rotating cycle – The first of its kind
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is the World’s fastest growing sport due to the rise in popularity of the UFC.
MMA is generally fought in an octagon cage with a referee and two matched opponents in a weight division where both opponents wear safety gear (gloves, mouthguard, groin guard, and some rule sets: elbow pads, shin pads and head gear). The match is generally 3-5 rounds scored by judges and can be finished by striking or submission finishes; along with Referee stoppage. If match goes to full time, it will go to the Judges scorecards.
MMA can be quite complex, but our Fundamentals Cycle approach is designed to give a full understanding of the various scenarios of MMA and broken down in a way that anyone can follow; making it the perfect way to be introduced to training MMA. The areas of focus include:-
- Grappling on the floor
- Grappling against the wall
- Takedowns and Up to FeetĀ
- Art of Striking to accommodate MMA rule set
A Typical Class
Class commences with a conditioning warm-up, commonly of running, light drilling and movements to accomodate MMA training (Takedown drilling, shadow boxing and Grappling movements). Warmup is instructed by the Coach and you are guided through the movements to ensure understanding and proper technique.
Following the warm-up, your Coach will bring the class together and introduce the subject and positions related to the training of MMA for the session. Students are taken through the technique via demonstration where the topic is broken down in detail so students can then practice the technique with a partner. Students are paired up to drill the technique before the class is grouped again for review, troubleshooting and questions to make sure everyone has a clear understanding. Class will conclude by applying techniques with resistance.
